Kieran and Mari to the Moon
...is a book concept I created that follows two young friends, Kieran and Mari, as they teach us about the Apollo 11 moon landing by engaging in imaginative play. Whether it be by creating their own astronaut helmets, or digging for "space rocks" in the yard, Kieran and Mari share their own excitement about everything they've learned.
The cover design is inspired by the iconic photo of the Apollo 11 astronauts. It also features custom hand lettered text.
The Characters
Kieran and Mari were designed to be foils of one another. Where Kieran is cautious and thoughtful, Mari is brazen and energetic.
